Admission and Retention

All students planning a major in Biblical Studies, Church Ministry or Worship Ministry must be admitted to the major by the Department. Students should apply during the semester when total credit hours will pass 60. Students who transfer in with more than 60 hours should apply during the first semester in residence. For admission to the majors, students will:
  1. Meet Warner Southern College admission requirements.

  2. Have completed at least 60 credit hours during the term when application is made.

  3. Complete ENG 1010, 1020 and MAT 1030 or 1040 with a grade of "C" or higher.

  4. Complete the psychological testing instruments selected by the Department and participate in follow-up interviews discussing the results. (The Department of Bible and Church Ministries intends to use the psychological testing instruments to encourage students to identify their strengths and weaknesses and then to improve upon identified weaknesses. Neither the department nor Warner Southern College takes any responsibility for the full identification or remediation of any psychological problems that may or may not be identified by the testing instruments.)

  5. Submit a written application for admission to the major

  6. Submit 2 reference forms with the application: one from the student's home church pastor (if not currently attending that church) and the second from the local church pastor. Online students are required to submit a reference letter from their mentoring pastor and their local pastor. Suitable substitutes are to be approved by the faculty advisor. Family members may not write reference letters.

  7. Participate in an oral interview with the Department as requested.
Retention in the Biblical Studies, Church Ministry and Worship Ministry majors requires continued progress to the satisfaction of the Department, including maintenance of a 2.00 or higher GPA with a grade of "C" or higher in all major area courses.
