Major in Church Ministry

Home » Academics » Bible & Church Ministries » Major in Church Ministry

The Church Ministry major consists of 50 credit hours. A minor is required and must be chosen from options within the Department of Bible and Church Ministries. Students may petition the Department for acceptance of alternative minors outside of the Department; additional course work will be required. A double major in Biblical Studies and Church Ministry requires the addition of CED 2012, 3110 and 3210 plus at least 5 upper division credit hours from the department.

The major includes a 10 credit internship designed to give students field experience. The internship is taken during the spring of the student’s senior year. It is intended to consummate the entire learning process, enabling the student to make practical application of learning and to concentrate on selected ministry emphases.

The objectives of the major in Church Ministry are to help the student: understand the Bible in its historical and cultural context in order to apply Biblical principles in daily living, develop a philosophy and theology of ministry, develop practical ministry skills to lead the church, and discover and live out their call as they grow as a disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ.
