ACC 2051 Principles of Financial Accounting
An introduction to the accounting process from transactions through financial statements. Emphasis is place on journal entries, including adjustments and closing entries. Special journals and subsidiary ledgers are also examined. Concentrates mainly on accounting for a sole proprietorship.

ACC 2052 Principles of Managerial Accounting
An introduction to Managerial Accounting concepts including financial statement analysis, job order and process costing systems, CVP analysis, budgeting, variances, etc. Prerequisite: ACC 2051.

ACC 3051 Intermediate Accounting I
An in-depth examination of the accounting process and the financial statements. Buuilds on concepts introduced in Principles of Accounting by considering more advanced topics with a more reporting oriented approach. Prerequisite: ACC 2052.

ACC 3052 Intermediate Accounting II
A continuation of ACC 3051, providing an in -depth examination of the accounting process and the financial statements. As with ACC 3051, topics are considered with a more reporting oriented approach. Prerequisite: ACC 3051.

ACC 3071 Individual Income Tax
An introduction to Federal income tax law and procedure pertaining to individuals, including income recognition, income character, deductions, credits, gains and losses, and alternative minimum tax.

ACC 3072 Income Tax II
An introduction to Federal income tax law and procedure pertaining to corporations, partnerships, S corporations, estates and trusts. Also, an overview of the Federal Unified Transfer (estate and gift) Tax. Prerequisite: ACC 3071 or approval of instructor.

ACC 3081 Accounting for Decision-Making
This course combines traditional cost accounting with newer management accounting concepts. It is designed to assist the student in becoming a valuable strategic partner with management through the use of accounting and financial information. Prerequisite: ACC 2052.

ACC 4011 Computer Applications In Accounting
An introduction to several computer software programs and techniques related to the accounting field, including spreadsheet software, accounting system software, depreciation software, amortization software, and tax preparation software. Prerequisite: ACC 2051. LAB FEE: $20.

ACC 4085 Internship In Accounting
Internship placement is to be in a local CPA firm or in a small business or corporate setting where the intern's work is closely supervised by a professional who will provide a variety of assignments to thoroughly acquaint the student with the organization's various functions. Prerequisite: Junior or Senior standing and department approval.

BUS 2000 Introduction To Business & Management
A survey of the fundamentals of business organization, operation, finance and management designed to help the student determine aptitudes and interests in business by exposure to a broad spectrum of today's business world plus an effective review of management history and the use of effective human relations in business. This course stresses that an organization is only effective when human relations are maintained and improved.

BUS 2061 Legal Environment Of Business I
A study of the United States' legal system and its application to businesses. The specific legal areas of torts and contracts will also be covered in addition to sales law under the Uniform Commercial Code.

BUS 3001 International Business & Economics
An overview of international business, including managerial, legal, financial, economic and accounting issues. Various modes of international business will be examined including importing, exporting, balance of trade, etc. NAFTA will be examined, as well as the implications of the European Union, and other global economic entities.

BUS 3010 Marketing Management
A comprehensive introduction to the various factors involved in marketing goods, and services; acquaintance with various methods of promoting, retailing, salesmanship and advertising in today's business world.

BUS 3011 Personal Finance
This course prepares the student to manage their own financial affairs and examines such topics as career strategies, money management, tax strategies, credit acquisition and management, housing, insurance, investing, and retirement planning.

BUS 3020 Operations Management
Management of operations, with emphasis on planning, forecasting, scheduling, inventory control, facilities management and quality control. Some interface with operations research methods will be conducted with respect to production type problems, planning and scheduling with selected topics in operational research. Prerequisites: MAT 1040 or BUS 3090.

BUS 3021 Business Communication
An introduction to styles, goals, and purposes of oral and written communication specifically tailored to the business environment. Prerequisite: ENG 1020.

BUS 3030 Organizational Behavior & Development
Literature of organizational theory; emphasis on theoretical concepts, organizational design, dynamics of formal and informal groups, communication in leadership, organizational fundamentals, organizational effectiveness, social science research techniques. Prerequisite: Junior or Senior standing.

BUS 3040 Financial Management
A course designed to teach the principles of financial management, analysis of balance sheets and income statements, capital markets, sources of capital funds, the time value of money, and the interpretation of future cash flows.
3 credit hours Offered: Spring

BUS 3050 Advertising
This course considers the wide range of managerial problems involved in the advertising process, including buying behavior, setting campaign objectives, selecting media, and evaluating procedures. Prerequisite: BUS 3010.

BUS 3062 Legal Environment Of Business II
Continued study of the legal environment of U. S. businesses with particular Specialization in property law, employment law, securities law and certain emerging or expanding areas such as environmental law, international business and the ADA.

BUS 3070 Entrepreneurship & Small Business Management
A systematic study of the methods, problems, and skills necessary for launching and operating a small business venture.

BUS 3080 Topics In Marketing
Marketing topics offered as demand and opportunity warrant, allowing subjects of pertinent and/or current nature to be explored in detail.

BUS 3090 Business Statistics
This course is designed to teach basic skills in descriptive and univariate statistics, with some consideration given to certain multivariate techniques. Experience in collecting and organizing data and drawing conclusions on the data are emphasized. All statistics will be taught from a business perspective. Prerequisite: MAT 1030 or higher.

BUS 3150 Management Science
An introduction to the application of the scientific approach to managerial decisionmaking. This course is designed to give the student a study of the quantitative methods used in solving business problems. The student is expected to formulate problems for computer-based solutions to operations, finance, and marketing problems of organizations. Prerequisite: MAT 1040.

BUS 4000 Management Information Systems
An overview of systems theory and a comprehensive introduction to Management Information Systems, Decision Support Systems, and Systems Analysis and Design.

BUS 4013 Computer Applications in Business
An introduction to computer software programs and techniques for to the business environment, including business forms, business plans, etc. Prerequisite: BUS 2000.

BUS 4040 Management/Organization
An overview of management principles, problems and techniques through planning, staffing, directing and controlling; development of basic managerial skills to cope with everyday business problems.

BUS 4060 Investments
This course examines analysis and valuation techniques for stocks and bonds, including fundamental analysis, technical analysis and duration. The course also covers such specialized topics as warrants, puts, calls, mutual funds, international securities markets, real assets, etc.

BUS 4061 Financial Management II
A continuation of BUS 3040, this course emphasizes the relationship between risk and return, the cost of capital and miscellaneous topics.

BUS 4085 Internship In Management
Applies varied and analytic techniques for operation of a business. BUS 4095 Business Policy Seminar
An integrative study of Strategic Policy Management and discussion of problems, policies, responsibilities, and ethics in policy administration and strategic planning. The case method is emphasized. Prerequisite: department approval.

CIS 0080 Computer Basics
This course prepares the student to perform basic word processing tasks, access and search the Internet, utilize their Warner Southern e-mail account, and perform certain other basic computer tasks to ensure their readiness for college work. Lab fee is required. This course does not count toward degree credit.

CIS 2010 Introduction to Java Programming
An introduction to programming in the Java language including instruction in program design, data manipulation, and object oriented programming. Lab fee required.

CIS 2020 Introduction to C++ Programming
An introduction to programming in the C++ language including instruction in program design, data manipulation, and object oriented programming. Lab fee required.

CIS 2030 Introduction to Visual Basic Programming
An introduction to programming in the Visual Basic language including instruction in program design, data manipulation, and object oriented programming. Lab fee required.

CIS 2061 Word Processing/Shorthand
An overview of the features of word processing programs, particularly Microsoft Word. Students will be expected to master basic and intermediate functions of the program as well as increase their efficiency in keyboarding. Also, an introduction to the use of shorthand for taking dictation.

CIS 2062/2064 Spreadsheets/Presentation Software
An overview of the features of spreadsheet and presentation software packages, particularly Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint. Students will be expected to master basic and intermediate functions of the programs.

CIS 3010 Advanced Java Programming
A continuation of CIS 2010 with consideration of advanced topics such as polymorphism, mutlithreading, advanced graphical design, exception handling, file input/output, and JDBC database connectivity. Lab fee required. Prerequisite: CIS 2010.
3 credit hours Offered: Fall 2003

CIS 3020 Advanced C++ Programming
A continuation of CIS 2020 with consideration of advanced topics such as polymorphism, exception handling, file and stream input/output, class templates, and data structures. Lab fee required. Prerequisite: CIS 2020.

CIS 3030 Introduction to HTML and Web-based Programming
An introduction to Web-based programming using HTML, CGI, and various Webbased scripting languages, including JavaScript and VBScript. Lab fee required. Prerequisite: CIS 2010, CIS 2020, or CIS 2030.

CIS 3060 Networking
An introduction to local area networking designed to familiarize the student with network design, architecture, standards, and protocols. Network operating systems and administration and support issues will also be covered. Lab fee required.
3 credit hours Offered: Spring 2004

CIS 3070 Database Design
A survey of the fundamentals of database structures and the design of business applications. Data modeling, database design, database management concepts, and SQL will be covered. Course concepts will be taught using Microsoft Access relational database. Lab fee required. Prerequisite: CIS 2010, CIS 2020, or CIS 2030 or departmental permission.

CIS 3080 E-Commerce
An introduction to concepts of electronic commerce as facilitated by the Internet, the World Wide Web, and related technologies. Both B2B and B2C strategies will be examined, as will ethical aspects of E-Commerce.

CIS 4020 E-Security
An advanced course that examines computer related security issues for those firms interested in E-Commerce. Aspects of client side security, data transport security, server side security, operating system security will be covered. Prerequisites: CIS 3030, CIS 3080, and at least concurrently with CIS 3060.

ECO 2001 Principles Of Economics - Macro
Introduction to the central economic problems of every society, the price systems of free markets, the bare elements of supply and demand, business organization, labor and industrial relations; the economic role of government, national income determination, prices and money, the nation's banking system and monetary and fiscal policies; analysis and determination of the effects on the economy of government spending and taxation, consumption spending, saving and investment spending.

ECO 2002 Principles Of Economics - Micro
Determination of the price of a commodity by supply and demand, the economics of the agricultural industry, the ideal production level for maximum profit as well as international trade and finance; economic growth, discrimination of minorities and alternative economic systems.

ECO 3061 Money & Banking
This course provides the student with an overview of money markets in the U. S. and with a general introduction to financial institutions and financial instruments.

LAW COURSES


LAW 3011 Legal Research & Writing
An introduction to legal research using LEXIS/NEXIS, and to various legal writing styles, including memoranda and briefs. The exegetical thought process will be emphasized.

LAW 3031 Law Office Management
This course will examine general office management issues and specific applications to the law office. Personnel, payroll and deadline management will be emphasized.
3 credit hours Offered: Fall 2003

LAW 3051 Legal Document Drafting
This course will instruct the student on the drafting of pleadings, contracts, wills and trusts and other legal documents.
