Students interested in careers, which require an extensive background in biology, will find appropriate programs of study in the Department of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. The Department offers a major in Biology. The Department also offers minors in Biology and Mathematics.

The courses of Natural Sciences are designed to give students knowledge of the physical and biological processes of life. Students are encouraged to develop a deep sense of awareness of, and appreciation for, God's natural world.

Pre–professional education for entry into schools of medicine, dentistry, osteopathy, veterinary science, optometry, pharmacy, chiropractic and physical or occupational therapy is provided. Students may also prepare themselves for graduate study in the ecological and environmental sciences.

The goal of the Mathematics program is to provide knowledge and appreciation of the field, to aid the development of thinking, and to provide skill for functioning in today's society.
