Students looking through a microscope Formal admission into the majors in the department should be sought during the Sophomore year. All students who plan to major in Biology and Science Education must be admitted to the major by the Department.

Admission is provided through a formal application submitted in the second semester of the Sophomore year or the first semester in residence after transferring to Warner Southern with 60 or more credit hours. Admission must be granted before more than 12 credit hours or one semester of course work will be approved.

For admission to a major in the department, students will:

  1. Meet the admission requirements for Warner Southern College.
  2. Complete an application to the major.
  3. Complete at least 60 credit hours during the term when application is made.
  4. Complete English Composition and Statistics with a grade of "C" or higher.
  5. Students majoring in Science Education must also meet the requirements of the Teacher Education Department. See the Teacher Education Department for more information.
Retention in the Biology major requires a 2.25 or higher cumulative GPA, a 2.50 GPA in major courses, and a grade of "C" or higher in all courses in the major. Retention in the Science Education requires a 2.50 or higher cumulative GPA.
