The Department of Physical Education supports the Warner Southern College mission in the following ways:

    Health Class
  1. The Department models and incorporates Christian faith into all aspects of the program. It is believed that the integration of faith will strengthen the student’s commitment to attaining knowledge and foster attitudes and skills that will benefit not only the students, but also those individuals with whom they will come in contact.

  2. Working closely with the Teacher Education Department, the Physical Education Department provides a quality curriculum that enables the students to earn Physical Education Teacher Certification.

  3. The Department provides a rigorous curriculum in Exercise Science and Sports Management, which prepares students for non-school physical education, recreation, sport and exercise science settings.

  4. In all majors within the Department the curricula provides the depth and breadth necessary to prepare the students for the challenges of graduate school.

  5. The Department contributes to the liberal arts curriculum by providing general education courses and courses that may be taken as electives.

  6. The Department serves the entire college community by providing both the facilities and the expertise needed to develop a healthy life style.

  7. The Department provides leadership through guidance, advisement, and modeling servanthood, necessary for students to be life long learners in all areas of life.

GENERAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS


PED 1000 Concepts in Health, Fitness and Leisure develops an understanding of good health practices, physical fitness and attitudes that lead to participation during and beyond the college setting. PED 1000 is required of all students.
