Department Honors

During the 2000-2001 academic year the department faculty developed and made available to the students the procedures and new standards for attainment of the honor. The procedures and standards are as follows: In the spring semester of each year, the department faculty reviews the records of the Exercise Science, Physical Education Teacher Education, and Sport Management majors to determine an initial list of eligible candidates for nomination. To be considered for nomination, the major must be a candidate for the current graduating class or has been a graduate from the previous winter commencement, maintain a 3.0 grade point average overall, earned a 3.2 grade point average within the department. Upon completion of graduation requirements, will have earned at least 60 hours from Warner Southern College.

From this list the department faculty identifies and nominates eligible candidates. The candidates are then notified and asked to submit a letter of application outlining their qualifications related to the following additional standards. The student must demonstrated strong Christian Values, held leadership positions on campus, shown service to the community, served as a positive role model, and exhibited a healthy lifestyle.

The application letters are then reviewed and individuals that meet all of the standards will receive recognition of "Graduating with Honors from the Department of Physical Education".
