COACHING: 18 hours


Individuals wishing to minor in Coaching must take PED 2000 First Aid & CPR, PED 3003 Care and Prevention of Injuries, PED 3043 Theory and Practice of Coaching Sports, PED 4024 Organization and Administration of Physical Education, Sports and Intramural Activities, PED 4075 Coaching Practicum, and PSY 3022 Sports Psychology, plus three elective hours form the Department of Physical Education. One half of the courses must be taken in residence and no more than two courses may be in common with another major or minor. To enroll in the Coaching Practicum Course the student must have reached senior status, declare coaching as a minor, successfully completed PED 3003 and PED 3043, have a 2.0 GPA, and have received permission from the Department Chair.

EXERCISE SCIENCE: 18 hours


Individuals wishing to minor in Exercise Science must take PED 3033 Teaching Health and Personal Fitness, PED 4012 Exercise Physiology, PED 4013 Kinesiology/Biomechanics I, and PED 4014 Kinesiology/Biomechanics II, plus five additional elective hours that are appropriate for the Exercise Science Degree including PSY 3022 Sports Psychology. One half of the courses must be taken in residence and no more than two courses may be in common with another major or minor.

SPORTS MANAGEMENT: 18 hours


Individuals wishing to minor in Sports Management must take PED 3043 Theory and Practice of Coaching Sports, PED 4024 Organization & Administration of Physical Education, Sports, and Intramural Activities, PED 4033 Sports Marketing and Public Relations, and PED 4043 Athletic Facility and Event Management, plus six additional elective credits that are appropriate for the Sports Management Degree. No more than three credit hours may be applied to the minor from the School of Business and/or three from the Department of Communication Arts. PSY 3022 Sport Psychology may also be taken as elective credits. One half of the courses must be taken in residence and no more than two courses may be in common with another major or minor.
