MINOR IN PRE-COUNSELING
The minor in Pre-Counseling requires 18 credit hours of course work to include:
Number Course Name Credits PSY 2000 Introduction to Psychology 3 PSY 3023 Professional Counseling 3 PSY 3050 Abnormal Psychology 3 PSY 4010 Methods of Social Research 3 PSY 4020 Counseling Theories 3 MAT 2000 Statistics 3 The Pre-Counseling minor MUST be understood as a preparation for graduate school and/or seminary and NOT as a professional counseling or licensure preparation program. While the student completing the minor will be better prepared professionally and for ministry, this is not intended as a terminal counseling or Clinical Social Work degree program. It is unethical and in many states illegal to call ones self a “counselor” or “therapist” without a graduate degree and licensure. No student taking this minor is to be considered a “pastoral counselor, counselor, marriage and family therapist” nor in any way qualified to present themselves as such to churches, boards, or their community constituencies. The Pre-Counseling minor is not available to Psychology Majors.
MINOR IN HISTORY
The History Minor requires 21 credit hours of course work to include:
Number Course Name Credits HIS 4055 Historiography 3 Two of the following: HIS 1010 World History 3 HIS 1030 Early American History 3 HIS 1040 Modern American History 3 POS 2010 American Government & Politics 3 Plus 12 additional hours with at least 9 being upper division
No more than six hours of General Education credited classes may be used to fulfill this requirement.
