Sean Hanrahan Named WSC Men's Basketball's Head Coach

Sean Hanrahan Sean Hanrahan, a familiar name in local college basketball, is in his first year as head men's basketball coach at Warner Southern College. The newest coach in the Florida Sun Conference comes to Warner Southern after five years as the first assitant at nearby Florida Southern, one of the top NCAA Division II programs in the country.

"I am very appreciative of every opportunity I have in life," Hanrahan said. "Warner Southern has had many great players and many successful teams. I plan on working effortlessly to be successful during my years at Warner Southern College."

Hanrahan was heavily involved in all aspects of the Florida Southern program during his five years there, from recruiting to the highly successful booster organization, the Sixth Man Club. While at FSC, he helped the Moccasins to a 102-45 record, two conference titles and two trips to the NCAA Tournament. The Mocs were annually ranked among the top ten defensive teams in the country, in both scoring average and field goal percentage defense. Former Moccasin's head coach Tony Longa credited his work in player development, individual workouts and strength training as one of the key elements to the program's success during that time. He was also instrumental in bringing in several top recruiting classes.

Prior to his time at Florida Southern, Hanrahan was on the staff of another local Division II power, Rollins College in Winter Park. He spent two years (1999-01) at Rollins, and played a major recruiting role in acquiring what Tars' Coach Tom Klusman said is one of his best recruiting classes in 25 years - a class that helped put the Tars in the NCAA Tournament in 2003 and 2004 and an Elite Eight finish. Hanrahan also played a huge role in making the 2000 summer camp for kids the most attended session in Klusman's camp history. In addition to being an assistant coach, Hanrahan was also the head strength & conditioning coach at Rollins for men's basketball.

Hanrahan received his bachelor's degree from Hanover College in Indiana, with a double major in psychology and physical education with a emphasis on exercise physiology and nutrition. While living in Orlando, Hanrahan ran his own business as a certified trainer.

Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, Hanrahan played basketball at Hanover under Coach Mike Beitzel, the owner of over 400 career victories. During Hanharan's playing career, Hanover's teams were ranked in the top ten nationally for field goal percentage defense and all four years in scoring defense. He was also the president of the Big Brothers & Big Sisters program at Hanover.

Hanrahan played prep basketball for four years at Purcell Marian High School in Cincinnati, helping lead his team to three district championships. During his junior and senior years, Hanrahan was a city leader in three-pointers made, points and scoring average and was named an All Conference player. He was an all-region selection as a senior and played in the East-West Ohio All-Star game.

A true student and teacher of the game, Hanrahan has attend and helped run 11 Glenn Wilkes/Nike Basketball Clinics over the last seven years. During the last three summers at the Michael Jordan Flight School he worked out 9 NBA first round draft picks, including 2005 picks Deron Williams (Utah Jazz), Chris Paul (New Orleans Hornets), Sean May (Charlotte Bobcats) and David Lee (New York Knicks).

Hanrahan and his wife Brandi reside in Lakeland with their daughter Mya Ann, who was born May 21, 2005.

Kenny Ebanyat Joins WSC Men's Basketball Coaching Staff

Warner Southern College is pleased to announce that Coach Kenny Ebanyat will be joining the men’s basketball coaching staff for the 2006-2007 season. He has a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Florida Southern College (FSC) where he played for head coach Tony Longa and assistant coach (at the time) Sean Hanrahan for three successful seasons.

“Kenny is a great addition to our staff,” said WSC head coach Sean Hanrahan. “He will be responsible for recruiting, post player development, and academic progress. His strong character and passion for the game will be a great example for our student athletes.”

Ebanyat is a familiar face to the Lakeland area, as he also played basketball for the Moccasins from 2002-2005. After graduating from FSC, Ebanyat worked as an auditor for a year.

At FSC, Ebanyat helped his team win a regular season title, a conference tournament title and made an appearance at two regional tournaments. He finished his college career at FSC with a 66-24 overall record. During that time, he was ranked 14 in school history in rebounds and third in blocked shots, despite playing only three years.

He was named to the First Team All-Sunshine State conference his senior year and led his team in scoring, rebounds, blocked shots and field goal percentage.

Ebanyat was named Player of the Week in the SSC twice during his career. But the highlight came when he was selected as the Mocs MVP in 2005.

He was ranked 14 in the country for rebounds in 21 consecutive games and 28 in the nation for blocked shots. He was also the first Moc in 23 years to average a double-double.

Prior to FSC, Ebanyat played for Coach Rick Hughes at Lee University (LU) in Cleveland, Tennessee where he helped lead the Flames to a 21-12 record. During his season at LU, the Flames were ranked No. 1 in the NAIA DI poll.

Off the basketball court, Ebanyat was a member of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC), on the Commissioners Honor Roll and the Dean’s List at FSC.

Ebanyat is originally from Entebbe, Uganda but now resides in Lake Wales.
