St. Thomas University showered women’s soccer with goals

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla -Bobcat Sandra Vargas was like a magician on the soccer field shifting, shaking and scoring a hat trick against the Royals (4-5 FSC 0-4). Her three goals were apart of a 7-0 St. Thomas win.

Less than eight minutes into the game, Vargas scored the first goal after Tiffany Vega maneuvered through defenders to pass her the ball. Vega's moves and pass allowed Vargas to gently place the ball into the back of the net with little resistance.

Vargas would score the games second goal less than two minutes later. This time she did the maneuvering through the defense and kicked the ball past the goalkeeper.

The game's third goal and third by Vargas would come after Lotta Varita passed her the ball on the right side of the box. Just before receiving the ball, Vargas took a hard jab step freezing the defender and kicked the ball past the goalkeeper with her left foot.

Vega scored the next goal with a shot from midfield. She was recently moved from defender to forward to create more scoring opportunities and her goal and two assist during the game support the coaching move.

Like Vargas, Shanoska Young would benefit from Vega's passing to score the fifth goal of the game after an assist from Vega. For the last two goals, the girls would show exemplary teamwork. After a player scored a goal, they would get the assist on the next goal.

Young would assist Alexa Livingston's goal, the sixth of the game, and Livingston would assist Sharlene Quezada the seventh and final goal of the game.
