Warner Southern College's Department of Athletics announced Kurt Bienias will oversee the men's and women's soccer programs next season as head coach for both teams.
Bienias comes to Warner Southern from Raleigh, North Carolina after coaching NCAA DIII women's soccer at Benedictine University in Illinois last year.
Bienias also brings experience coaching NCAA DII men's soccer at Barton College from 2001-2003. While serving in the United States Air Force for over 20 years, Bienias started coaching and honing his soccer experience.
"I am excited about the addition of Coach Bienias to the Warner Southern Athletics staff," Director of Athletics Dr. Dennis Obermeyer said. "He possesses a great passion for the sport and will bring knowledge and enthusiasm to both soccer programs."
Bienias earned his Bachelors of Arts and Sciences in Computer Science from the University of Central Florida. He also has a Masters in Recreation and Sports Sciences with an emphasis in Coaching Education.
Bienias' personal soccer career includes playing on the Hickam Air Force Base traveling team, playing for the Colorado Springs Jazz and international play with the FC Weilerbach in Germany. He is a nationally licensed coach by the United States Soccer Federation and has been a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association for over 17 years.
"For the most part, my playing days are pretty much over, but my passion for the game remains high," Bienias said. "What really sets me apart regarding my coaching expertise is that I understand the maturation process of a student-athlete having observed and worked through the various stages."
