Five Warner football players and a coach volunteered their time at Woodlawn Elementary in Sebring last week. Being a “Leader in Me” school, on early release days the teachers at Woodlawn offer DEAL (Drop Everything and Lead) clubs for the students for one hour.
Warner football players included:
Ramon Rivera, #92
Rowdy Driggers, #74
Alex Cole, #21
Larry Faison, #2
Justin Jackson, #88
and Coach Teague
DEAL club gives kids a chance to participate in activities they are interested in, while focusing on how to be a better leader. Some of the Warner football players chose to participate in Sports club with third graders.
These players talked about the characteristics of being a leader in the classroom and on the field. They answered questions about balancing school with athletics and they encouraged the students to not be afraid to work for their dreams.
Following the classroom time, the players and students interacted by playing a friendly game of touch football.
The players loved the experience and looking forward to going back!
