School of Education - Psychology
Thank you for your interest in the Psychology major at Warner University. Psychology as a field of study is formally defined as "the scientific study of behavior and mental processes." But psychology is much more than a scientific discipline; it is practical, it is theoretical, and it is ever changing. In our psychology classes, students are exposed to information that can alter the way they view themselves, others, and the world around them.
Warner psychology students are interested in why people behave, think, and feel the way they do, and in how culture, family, heredity and environment contribute to their way of relating to the world and each other. The study of psychology requires intense curiosity and more than a little courage; psychology majors ask the hard questions about life, death, happiness, pain, hopelessness, and faith. Moreover, they are not afraid to explore their own thoughts, motives, memories, behaviors and feelings.
Warner graduates who major in psychology have many options. Many go to graduate school. Others pursue careers in areas such as education, social & health related services, human resources, law enforcement, ministry, public relations, and management. The variety of employment opportunities for one trained in psychology are unlimited. All field benefit from a better understanding of human behavior and interaction.
