Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary Loan Forms

Interlibrary Loan policies

Interlibrary Loan is a service of the Learning Resource Center for the students, faculty, and staff of Warner University to obtain material that is not available in the library.

Generally books and photocopies of journal articles can be obtained through Interlibrary Loan. Please check the online public access catalog to verify library holdings before submitting an Interlibrary Loan request.

Submitting Requests
To request an item through Interlibrary Loan, complete the electronic request form as fully as possible. A separate form is needed for each item requested.

Time to Fill Request
It is impossible to predict how long it will take to receive an item requested through Interlibrary Loan. One should plan research in order to allow for a wait of 1 to 2 weeks.

Interlibrary Loan Fees
The LRC will seek lenders that do not charge a fee for borrowing. In the event that a fee is charged for the Interlibrary Loan transaction, the borrower is contacted about fees ahead of time and is responsible for paying all associated fees for items borrowed.

Notification
Facsimiles of journal articles will be emailed or sent by regular mail. Books and other non-photocopy material must be picked up at the LRC. Users will be notified by electronic mail when a requested item has been received or if there are any problems in filling a request (For this reason, the LRC will not process a request without a valid Warner University e-mail address).

Loan Period
The loan period for books and non-photocopy material is determined by the lending institution. The borrower will be informed of the loan period when the item is picked up. The loan period is usually at least two weeks for books and articles do not need to be returned.

Renewals
No renewals are allowed by any lending libraries.

Copyright Restrictions
The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research." If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction in excess of "fair use," that user may be liable for copyright infringement. This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright law.
