
Library Policies
Circulation
All items in the library, excluding interlibrary loans, circulate through the Circulation Desk.
There are several types of materials available to LRC patrons for checkout. Below is a table listing all material that is circulated and for how long.

*Reference and Restricted materials are for in-house circulation only and are not to leave the building without the consent of the Library Director.
Reserves
There are three types of Reserve material: 2-day, 2-hour reference, and 2-hour. The 2-day items indicated by the orange/salmon colored sleeve circulates for 2 days only, this does not include weekends and holidays when the library is not open. 2-Hour Reserves are for in-house circulation only. Fines are charged daily or hourly for overdue Reserves. Other materials on Reserve include headphones. These items circulate for 2 hours.
Periodicals
Periodicals include newspapers, magazines, and microfilm. Unbound periodicals circulate for two days. The most current items circulate overnight. Bound periodicals and microfilm.fiche circulate in-house only.
Interlibrary Loans
ILL items are property of other libraries and do not circulate through the front desk. ILL requests are either submitted to Pam Bloomquist, the Serials Librarian, directly or through the LRC website. ILL books are to be returned directly to Mrs. Bloomquist.
Patron ID Cards
All patrons must present an ID card to check out any LRC material. If no ID is presented, no material is circulated. New IDs can be obtained from the Student Life office. Community User cards are issued through the LRC as per the approval of the Head of Access Services and/or Director.
Overdue and Lost materials
The LRC does not charge daily fines for General Circulation materials. If a book is overdue after two courtesy notices, the price of the book plus an additional $10.00 is charged to replace the lost item. Patrons who return items that have been charged may request a refund for the price of the item only.

Lamination
A laminator is located in the Instructional Materials Lab (IML). It takes approximately 40 minutes for the laminator to warm up to the recommended temperature for use. Lamination is charged at the rate of $ .50 per a foot.
CONFIDENTIALITY OF LIBRARY RECORDS
Protecting the rights of library users to view and read materials without fear of intrusion, intimidation or reprisal is a value recognized by the American Library Association in Item 3 of its Code of Ethics which provides:
3. We protect each library user's right to privacy and confidentiality with respect to information sought or received and resources consulted, borrowed, acquired or transmitted.
Protecting the rights of library users to view and read materials without fear of intrusion, intimidation or reprisal is a core value for all librarians. To safeguard the privacy of individuals in their use of the library, the Pontious Learning Resource Center maintains the confidentiality of library records. Student records, including library borrowing records, are additionally protected by federal privacy laws.
The registration and circulation records of the Pontious Learning Resource Center are confidential.
Registration records include any information the library requires users (faculty or staff members, students, alumni, or special borrowers) to provide in order to become eligible to access or borrow materials. Such information includes addresses, telephone numbers, and social security numbers.
Circulation records include all information that identifies a faculty or staff member, student, alumnus, or special borrower as borrowing or accessing particular materials or information. Included in these records are Web browsing histories and reserve materials.
No library employee shall reveal the identity of a borrower to any requestor.
Except in accordance with proper judicial order and with permission of the designated administrative officer(s) of the University, no person shall make known in any manner any information contained in such records listed above. In the absence of such judicial orders or University administrative permission, those to whom information will be denied include, but are not limited to, faculty, staff (including library staff except in the pursuit of their assigned duties), parents, students, campus security, police, FBI agents, and military personnel.
Library staff will refer all requests for records information to the Library Director. Those offices will contact the University General Counsel's Office.
