Curriculum Planning Tool Activities (CPT)

Description: Florida Department of Education - Curriculum Planning Tool Activities (CPT)
(activities developed to support instruction in the Sunshine State Standards)
The "learning activities were created by Florida teachers for use with the Curriculum Planning Tools." The activities "include classroom, teacher-managed assessment activities, some of which support preparing students for state assessment tests." "Each activity is identified by grade level cluster, subject area and strand, developer, date of inclusion on the web site, and activity title."

Education World

Description: Education World (tm) created "a complete online resource guide where educators could start each day to find the lesson plans and research materials they need." The site includes: a search engine for educational Web sites; an information source on the Web with news from USA Today; monthly site reviews and employment listings; an original content source for lesson plans and articles written by education experts. Education World's goal is to make it easy for educators to integrate the Internet into the classroom.

ERIC – The Education Resources Information Center

Description: ERIC is “sponsored by the Institute of Educational Sciences (IES) of the U.S. Department of Education” and is a bibliographic database of journal and non-journal educational materials with over 1 million citations going back to 1966. A new feature of ERIC is over 100,000 full-text non-journal documents dating from 1993-2004 in .PDF image format now available at no cost. The database contains a Thesaurus of ERIC Descriptors (3rd tab at the top on the left hand side) with over 10,000 main headings and cross-references. Users who wish to save and re-run searches may wish to login to My ERIC and complete a free and easy registration form.

Expanded Academic ASAP (InfoTrac)

Description: This database covers a broad range of academic disciplines. The database provides bibliographic records for articles found in more than 1500 scholarly and general interest journals. It includes full-text coverage for more than 800 titles.

Description: This site is sponsored by The U.S. Department of Education's National Library of Education and contains 7,051 education resources including quality Internet lesson plans, curriculum units, and other educational resources. Users can browse/search keyword or subject lists.

Literature Resource Center (InfoTrac)

Description: Literature Resource Center provides access to biographies, bibliographies, and critical analyses of authors from every age and literary discipline. Combining Gale Group's core literary databases in a single online service, the Literature Resource Center covers more than 120,000 novelists, poets, essayists, journalists, and other writers, with in-depth coverage of 2,500 of the most-studied authors.

Literary Criticism Collection

Description: The well-known Internet Public Library has been added this new collection to its powerful information lineup. This literary metasite contains over 1,000 annotated metasites and articles devoted to literary criticism, biograhpical, and other information about 123 authors from Dante Alighieri to Arthur Miller to William Butler Yeats. The links to criticism information can be sites or artiles(some of which have access restrictions). Visitors can browse the site by author, title, or literary period (for Britsh and American literature). In addition, both a literary criticism guide and a pathfinder are provided for those who wish to further explore web and print resources on topic.[The Scout Report. May 01, 1998]

Oxford Reference Online Premium Collection

Description: The Oxford Refence Premium Collection enhances the 100+ books in the Core Collection with an expanding range of key titles in the acclaimed Oxford Companions series plus the Oxford Dictionary of Quotations. This means an additional 140,000 entries, including 50,000 longer, in-depth, signed entries with bibliographies.

Perseus Project: An Evolving Digital Library

Description: This large site's purpose is to continually add material on the study of humanities, particularly the study of the ancient world and beyond. The site is edited by Gregory Crane (Tufts University) and provides the following sections: an English Index to documents in Perseus; Art and Archaeology (3,000+ pictures); Atlas; Texts and Translations; Text Tools and Lexica; Encyclopedia; Essays and Catalog.
