Developmental Mathematics

Description: This site's purpose is to acquaint people who are teaching developing mathematics on what's new in the field. Information supplies includes: an annotated bibliography of articles on developmental mathematics, descriptions of developmental mathematics projects which are consistent with the NCTM and AMATYC standards, descriptions of Developmental Programs That Work, and an electronic discussion group.

Developmental Programs That Work

Description: Presents in alphabetical order by speaker's name, the contributed paper sessions on Developmental Programs That Work which was sponsored by the Developmental Mathematics Subcommittee of the MAA. The national joint meetings were held in San Diego in January 1977 and in Baltimore in January 1998.

Oxford Reference Online Premium Collection

Description: The Oxford Refence Premium Collection enhances the 100+ books in the Core Collection with an expanding range of key titles in the acclaimed Oxford Companions series plus the Oxford Dictionary of Quotations. This means an additional 140,000 entries, including 50,000 longer, in-depth, signed entries with bibliographies.

Taxonomy on the Web

Description: A good site for beginning biology students. This extensive site is maintained by North Harris Montgomery Community College and provides the following information: general overviews and links from the five-kingdom system - Animalia, Fungi, Monera, Plantae, and Protista.

The Math Forum Student Center

Description: Contains links to Internet resources in the following categories: Have a math question?, Weekly/Monthly Challenges, By Grade Level, Special Interest, and Other Student Center Highlights (including Math Tips & Tricks).

The Tree of Life

Description: The Tree of Life is a project that provides information on the diversity, history, and characteristics of organisms on Earth. The site is edited by David R. Maddison (University of Arizona) and contains 1,380 web pages that are authored by Biologists around the world. Information on phylogeny and biodiversity is presented in pages within an evolutionary tree, whereby each page concentrates on one group of organisms and all pages are inter-linked to each other.

Thomason Gale PowerSearch (InfoTrac)

Description: The Thomason Gale PowerSearch is a cross-searchability interface, enabling users to search across multiple Thomson Gale online collections. It simplifies navigation with a "breadcrumb trial" that shows the path the search has taken, letting the user easily return to a previous step.
