Sara Bruno and Brianna Barrios expect Warner University’s softball team to win the Sun Conference again this 2018 season.

Last year the Lady Royals won the Sun Conference and went to the NAIA Div. II World Series. The team has been conditioning for the season with early-morning workouts and practices three times a week.

“I am excited for the new season but nervous because of how many new girls there are,” said sophomore catcher Bruno.

Last season Bruno hit five home runs for the Royals. Her goal this year is to hit eight home runs.

“I want a ring,” said freshman catcher Barrios.

Barrios has confidence that the Lady Royals will win at the Sun Conference.

Bruno and Barrios spend lots of time together for their early-morning training, field practice, hitting and catching drills. They have developed a friendship that they hope will continue with the whole team since there are so many new players.

“I want to be a team leader this season by encouraging my teammates after they make a mistake,” said Bruno.

Bruno said that team fellowship is important and will be crucial in developing this new team as the season begins.

“Sara and I are best friends, we do everything together,” said Barrios.

The Lady Royals are preparing to start this season with developing their skills and friendships for their expected success at the Sun Conference this 2018 season.
