Connect Oulook 2007 to Exchange Labs


Prerequisites

To access Exchange Labs, you must have the Windows Live ID that your administrator gave you to use with Exchange Labs and your password. The Windows Live ID is also your e-mail address and includes the name of the domain, like joe.smith@go.warner.edu.

Set up Outlook 2007 for POP3 or IMAP4 access to Exchange Labs

  1. Open Outlook 2003. The Internet Connection Wizard will run the first time that you open Outlook Express. Or, you can run the Internet Connection Wizard by clicking the Tools menu and then clicking Account Settings .

  2. On the Account Settings page, click New....

  3. Choose Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP, or HTTP and click Next.

  4. On the Auto Account Setup Page, enter your name (Your First and Last Name as you wich it to appear when someone gets an e-mail from you. Enter your e-mail address and yor e-mail password.
    Then check the box for "Manually configure server settings or additional server types."

  5. Choose Internet E-mail

  6. Enter your Name and e-mail address.

  7. Enter POP3 or IMAP as the Account Type.

  8. Enter either of the following for Incoming as the Incoming mail server:

    For POP3 access, use pop.exchangelabs.com
    For IMAP access, use imap.exchangelabs.com

  9. Under Outgoing e-mail server (SMTP) name, enter smtp.exchangelabs.com.

  10. Enter your user name (your full go.warner.edu e-mail address) and your e-mail password

  11. Click on More Settings.

  12. Click on the Outgoing Server tab. Then check the "My outgoing sever (SMTP) requires authentication.
    Choose "Use same settings as my incoming mail server."
  13. Click on the Advanced tab. Then check the box for "This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)."

  14. Then in the dropdown box for "Use the following type of encrypted connection," choose TLS (or SSL is TLS is not available).

  15. Click OK when done.

 

Another alternative is to use Outlook 2007 as an exchange client. We suggest this if you do not currently have any accounts set up under Outlook 2007 becuase there is a confluct sometimes when you have 2 accounts setup like this.
