Connect Windows Mail (in Windows Vista) to Exchange Labs

Prerequisites

To access Exchange Labs, you must have the Windows Live ID that your administrator gave you to use with Exchange Labs and your password. The Windows Live ID is also your e-mail address and includes the name of the domain, like Joe.Smith@go.warner.edu.

Set up Windows Mail for POP3 or IMAP4 access to Exchange Labs

  1. Open Windows Mail. The Internet accounts wizard will run the first time that you open Windows Mail. Or, you can manually run the Internet accounts wizard by clicking the Tools menu and then clicking Accounts.

  2. On the Select Account Type page, click Add, select E-mail Account, and then click Next.

  3. On the Your Name page, enter your full name in the Display name box.

  4. On the Internet E-mail Address page, enter your e-mail address in the E-mail address box.

  5. On the Set up e-mail servers page, in the drop-down menu under Incoming e-mail server type, select either POP3 or IMAP.

  6. Under Incoming mail (POP3 or IMAP) server, enter one of the following:

    • POP3   If you are using POP3 to access Exchange Labs, the POP3 server name is pop.exchangelabs.com.
    • IMAP4   If you are using IMAP4 to access Exchange Labs, the IMAP server name is imap.exchangelabs.com.

  7. Under Outgoing e-mail server (SMTP) name, enter smtp.exchangelabs.com.

  8. Select the check box next to Outgoing server requires authentication, and then click Next.

  9. On the Internet Mail Logon page, enter your e-mail user name (your full e-mail address) and password. If you want Windows Mail to remember your password, select the
check box next to Remember password. After you have entered this information, click Next.

  10. On the Congratulations page, select the check box next to Do not download my e-mail and folders at this time, and then click Finish.

The next step in configuring Windows Mail is to configure the encrypted connection to Exchange Labs to both send SMTP and receive POP3 and IMAP4 e-mail.
