Examples of Acceptable Use (not a complete list)
- Use of computers and network resources primarily for academic study.
- Use of network resources to facilitate communication among students, staff, faculty, administration, and family. All communication and languages should reflect the standards and mission of the college.
- Only use personal documents and/or appropriate data files.
Examples of Unacceptable Use (not a complete list)
- Reception or display of pornographic images.
- Any display of images, sounds, or text which could create an atmosphere of discomfort.
- Disrespect for others.
- Intentional misuse or destruction of computer hardware, software, or data belonging to Warner Southern College or others.
- Libeling or slandering of others.
- Damaging or destroying equipment, software, or data belonging to Warner Southern College or others.
- Unauthorized access, or attempting to access Warner Southern College information, computer records, another’s data or information without proper authorization, or any data or files even if they are not securely protected.
- Obtaining, possessing, using, or attempting to use another’s password without proper authorization.
- Sending forged messages under someone else’s name.
- Using bulk e-mail for advertising, business, etc.
- Sending/receiving attachments larger than 200 KB.
- Sending abusive or hate e-mail (also known as flaming, or flames).
- Making copies of licensed software without proper authorization.
- Using Warner Southern College resources for unauthorized or inappropriate purposes.
- Intentionally sending a crippling number of files across the network, or releasing a virus, worm, or other program that damages or harms a computer or the network.
- Preventing others from accessing services.
- Disrupting or unauthorized monitoring of electronic communications.
