Once everyone has made the switch to using his/her H:\ drive and S:\ drive for storing documents and has cleaned out these files from "My Documents," we will make Word and Excel open to your H:\ drive automatically. Until then, you may make the change yourself with Word and Excel. Here is the process for doing so in Word. Click here for the process for Excel.

  1. Open Microsoft Word
  2. Click on the Tools menu
  3. Click on the Options selection.
  4. Click on thte File Locations tab. This will open the following screen. Notice how the Path for Documents is "My Documents."
  5. Click on the Modify... button. This will open the next window shown below. You will Delete the text in the windows and type in " H:\ " (don't type the quotes) as shown here. Then click "OK."
  6. You will be taken back to the original window, but the value for "Documents" has changed. Now, when you open Word and go to open or save a file, it will automatically pull up your H:\ drive.
