Twelve Warner University students along with three faculty members lived up to this year’s SHAPE Florida motto “Strength in Numbers” at the 2017 Society of Health and Physical Educators (SHAPE) Florida Convention in Kissimmee, Florida from October 19-21.
“I am so proud of all the Warner University students who participated in this year’s convention,” said Dr. Davin, Associate Professor of Exercise Science & Physical Education at Warner. “Convention attendees were very impressed with the spirit and enthusiasm that our students displayed during the three days of workshops.”
Two of the students were honored during the convention. Joshua Ellis received the Katherine W. Montgomery Scholarship, which is given to a deserving undergraduate majoring in Physical Education.
“Joshua is so worthy of this award,” said Dr. Davin. “He is an amazing young man who has so much talent and ambition, and I am certain that he will positively impact the lives of his students.”
Alexis Timms was also honored by being elected to serve as the Student Representative on the SHAPE Florida Board of Directors. She will serve a two-year term on this board.
“We are all so proud of Alexis. She is taking on a big responsibility, and I am confident that she will be an incredible asset to the Board and to the SHAPE Florida organization,” said Dr. Davin. “She has a drive and passion to help others to get and stay healthy, and I am sure that her input will be invaluable.”
