Warner University Men’s Volleyball team is midway through the season and so far they have gathered an overall record of 14-4 after going up 4-0 in last weekend’s tournament in Missouri, giving the team a 7-0 game winning streak.
Two of the four games in Missouri were against nationally ranked teams, a fifth seed and a tenth seed. Because of those wins, the Royals, who were ranked seven, moved up to the fifth spot in the ranks.
The men are hoping to add to their already notable resume this weekend, as they host a tournament in the Turner Athletic Center. Wins against these conference games will secure the Royals to be hosts of the conference tournament in April.
“Our goal is to continue to move up in the national rankings these next couple of weeks, which will help lead us to do well in the conference tournament, and hopefully move on to nationals,” said Head Coach Steve Benson.
Warner’s libero, Hui Ding, won NAIA Libero of the Week for the week of February 29, 2016. Ding with a solid group of teammates, including setter Martin Krueger who averages above ten assists per game, have set a good tone of what’s to come for this team.
“We have a lot of players who are contributing in a lot of different ways,” said Benson. “We are really happy with what we are doing as an overall team.”
