Warner University men’s cross country team hit the road on Saturday, Sept. 26, for the Warrior Invitational hosted by Southern Wesleyan University (S.C.). The meet also served as the 2015 NCCAA South Regional and for the second straight year, the Royals captured the South Region title finishing second overall in the field but first among NCCAA South Region teams. Head coach Manuel Salazar was named the South Region Coach of the Year as well.
Warner’s Daniel Marin repeated as the top individual finisher in the meet and cut six seconds of his time from last year’s race finishing in 28:18, 23 seconds ahead of the next closest finisher.
As a result of winning the South Region title, the Royals will now advance to the 43rd Annual Men’s DI Cross Country National Championship meet on Nov. 14 in Houghton, N.Y. The meet is hosted by Houghton College and will take place on the Field of Dreams Cross Country Course at 11 a.m.
In the meantime, the Royals regular season continues on Oct. 10 with their annual trip to Lake Buena Vista, Fla. for the Walt Disney World Cross Country Classic at the ESPN Wide World of Sports.
